Toyota RAV4 engines are blend of performance and efficiency
February 10, 2014
Toyota has its long term intensions to develop most efficient and cost effective engines but when it comes to Toyota's RAV4 engines, Toyota likes to keep the things simple by introducing an excellent V6. It will replace the previously ruled 2.5 Litre engine of four cylinders but this engine will remain an option for new RAV4. It was an efficient engine with 176hp of power and 172lb-ft of torque but in its newer version it has received some tweaks and refinements in order to increase efficiency. You should be amaze to hear that the four speed automatic transmission is in the end swapped out and replaced by an all new six speed transmission with fifth and sixth being overdrive ratios to boost up effectiveness and efficiency. Front wheel drive versions have better fuel efficiency and Toyota claims the mpg stats as 24mpg in the city areas, 31mpg on the motorway and 26mpg on average which is very good. On other hand, all wheel drive versions also make effective figures with 22 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the motorway and 25 mpg on average. It has great limited time response as well, from zero to 62 miles per hour it takes only 8.9 seconds with well organised transmission performance. For the European RAV4 enthusiasts, there is an improved version of 2.2 Litre D-4D engine is offered with 150hp of power and 340 Nm of torque. It looks like a slow motor but in the present economic situations it does bring higher taxes on certain markets but for the road tax it has very reasonable figures. We weren't predominantly pleasant to the throttle and yet by and large effectiveness didn't go beyond 8 liters for every 70 miles. It’s a sophisticated powerplant and you can experience its down low torque. Don’t worry captivating it to towering in the rev range though; The six-speed manual is somewhat accurate and has a squat first ratio to use the car off the road.
