Toyota Yaris was launched in 2011 with several tweaks and with number of refreshed engines.The Toyota Yaris 2011 is equipped with two petrol engines and it’s reasonable to articulate that the performance levels are not that out of this world; it is a great city car. The entry level petrol is a 1.0 litre three cylinder engine and is mated to a five speed manual gearbox, and this configuration is best suited to driving around town. The 1.0 litre engine is capable of producing 68bhp of power and 93Nm of torque, which is very good for driving around town, but it is a bit lacklustre on the open roads. The basic engine takes 15.3s to get to 62mph from zero and it claims a top speed of 96mph. Next in the range is the 1.3 litre petrol engine which produces 98bhp though it is a good option for longer journeys and motorway driving. Its 125Nm of torque makes for a more comforting ride and it covers 0 to 60mph benchmark in 11.7s which is 4.4 seconds quicker than 1.0 litre engine, it has a top speed of 109mph when mated to manual transmission with six speed gearbox. An optional Multidrive S automatic gearbox is also available but it can get excessively noisy except when you toggle it into manual mode and use the levers mounted to steering wheel to change gear. It is very hard to overtake a vehicle ahead on single-lane carriageways. The diesel options are also available with a 1.4-litre D-4D giving 89bhp, coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox. This version can complete the 0 to 62 in 10.8s and goes to a top speed of 109mph.
